Sample 5-Week Study & Tour Itinerary


Week 1
  Monday: Arrive at Beijing Airport - Welcome dinner prepared by your host family
  Tuesday: Meet and Greet on the first day of Class
  Wednesday: Chinese Class - Enjoy a night out at the Peking Opera
  Thursday: Chinese Class - Participate in a guohua demo, the art of Chinese painting
  Friday: Chinese Class - Join us at the Beijing office for a jiaozi (dumpling) cooking class
  Saturday: Hop on our private bus and take a ride to climb the magnificent Great Wall
  Sunday: Relax and get to know your homestay, your new family in China

Week 2
  Monday: Chinese class - Visit and learn about the historical Summer Palace
  Tuesday: Chinese class - Volunteer teach at a local immigrant school
  Wednesday: Chinese class - Free time to explore the city
  Thursday: Chinese class - Watch a traditional acrobatics performance. Careful, they flip!
  Friday: Chinese class - Visit the popular Beijing Zoo and see a panda (or two)
  Saturday: Excursion to Tiananmen Square and the renowned Forbidden City
  Sunday: Take a load off at your homestay

Week 3
  Monday: Chinese class - Visit Beijing's newest addition, the Olympic Park
  Tuesday: Chinese class - Brush up on your calligraphy (shufa) with another demo
  Wednesday: Chinese class - Free time to explore the city
  Thursday: Chinese class - Absorb some Chinese history at the Capital Museum
  Friday: Chinese class - Soak in the scenery at the Temple of Heaven
  Saturday: Light some incense at the Lama Temple and Confucian Temple
  Sunday: Join your host family for a reunion with some relatives and friends

Week 4
  Monday: Chinese class - Try your hand (and foot) at our Chinese Martial Arts class
  Tuesday: Chinese class - Get creative in our traditional hand-craft class
  Wednesday: Chinese class - Free time to explore the city
  Thursday: Chinese class - Wander the narrow hutongs to get a glimpse of courtyard living
  Friday: Chinese class - Attend a Chinese medicine workshop at a local clinic
  Saturday: Travel to Beijing's suburbs to volunteer your acting skills at the Senior Center
  Sunday: Say goodbye to your host family, though we're sure you'll be back to visit!

Week 5
  Monday: Arrive in Xi'an - Explore the burial grounds of the first Emperor of China and the awe- inspiring Terracotta Army
  Tuesday: Hike up to the Tang Dynasty Wild Goose Pagoda - Visit the Shaanxi History Museum and walk along the ancient city wall
  Wednesday: Fly to Chengdu - Go out for some early Sichuan hotpot and get some rest
  Thursday: Check out the state-of-the-art Chengdu Panda Breeding & Research Center - Head to Jingli Ancient Street to visit the traditional shops and taste the local specialties
  Friday: Fly to Shanghai - Relax while cruising down the Huangpu River - Snap some pictures of the view from the observation deck of the Oriental Pearl Tower
  Saturday: Check out all the international exhibits at the World Expo
  Sunday: Say goodbye to China and promise to come back and visit us again!
